Terms of service of this service is as follows. Although this agreement is subject to modification without notice, it is necessary to agree again when logging in at the time of login.
These Terms of Use set forth the conditions that persons using G-Portal (hereinafter referred to as “Users”) must comply with when using G-Portal. Matters not specified in these Terms of Use shall be subject to the JAXA Site Policy.
By clicking the "Agree" button and using G-Portal, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms of Use.
1. User Registration
To use G-Portal, you must register for an account with G-Portal. Users must log in using their registered account and password. The registration information required to use G-Portal is the User’s name, email address, organization, department, country or region, and purpose of use. If you use free email services, emails may not be delivered to the User or G-Portal, preventing the completion of User registration. Please use an official email address, such as one issued by your organization.
2. Handling of Personal Information
JAXA appropriately handles the personal information you provide (name, email address, organization, department, country or region, and purpose of use) in accordance with the laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information, other applicable rules, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the “Regulations Concerning the Protection of Personal Information” separately specified by JAXA. JAXA does not use the personal information you provide for any purposes other than those related to G-Portal.
Purposes of Use
ⅰ） Understanding the status of data provision
ⅱ）Responding to inquiries from Users
ⅲ） Conducting surveys and questionnaires and providing information to Users for the purpose of improving G-Portal
Notwithstanding the foregoing, information on Users residing in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom will only be used for the purposes in ⅰ） and ⅱ） and not for those in ⅲ）.
In addition, when JAXA outsources part of the operations related to G-Portal (such as system administration, management of Users, and help desk operations), JAXA will allow the contractor to use the personal information you provide, but only to the extent necessary for the outsourced operations.
G-Portal uses session management cookies to ensure continuous and secure use of the service by Users. The cookies are used to maintain Users’ authentication status and enable continued use of G-Portal when Users navigate between pages. These cookies are essential for the provision of G-Portal, and they are not used for advertising profiling or behavioral analysis of Users.
Users may request disclosure, correction, or suspension of use of their personal information held by JAXA, and they may lodge an objection to JAXA’s response to such requests. For details, please see here.
If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, please review “Handling of Personal Information under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)” before registering.
JAXA will retain the personal information you provide only for as long as you remain registered. If you terminate your registration, your personal information will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, except for the following: where retention is required under Japanese laws and regulations, where retention is necessary to comply with security requirements imposed by the government of Japan, or where retention is necessary to comply with or respond to requests from the government of Japan.
3. Management of Accounts and Passwords
Users are solely responsible for the management and use of their accounts and passwords. JAXA shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the unauthorized use of an account by a third party. Users are encouraged to take all reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorized access to their accounts
4. Suspension of Use
If a User’s use of G-Portal violates these Terms of Use, the JAXA Site Policy, or if the User retrieves a large amount of data in a short period of time through scraping or similar means, thereby overloading the system, JAXA may temporarily suspend the User’s account and prohibit the User from using G-Portal to ensure the fair and stable operation of the service to all Users. If JAXA determines that any such conduct was intentional, malicious, or carried out in bad faith, JAXA may terminate the User's account.
5. Conditions for Using Data Provided by G-Portal
(1) Data provided by G-Portal may be used freely and free of charge by anyone without any restrictions, including for commercial purposes. Notwithstanding the foregoing, use of the data is limited to peaceful purposes, and Users must indicate the source of the data, as specified in (2), and provide prior notice when using the data for commercial purposes, as specified in (3).
(2) Indication of Data Sources
When publishing or otherwise making public outputs produced using data provided by G-Portal in papers, reports, or other publications, please refer to the Appended Table and indicate the sources of the G-Portal data you have used.
For higher-level value-added data and products, please indicate the sources of the original data.
Examples of How to Indicate a Source
Japanese Example:
「本論文にて使用したデータ（具体的にセンサ名もご明記ください、例：PRデータ）は、宇宙航空研究開発機構より提供を受けました。」 (Translation: “The data used in this paper were provided by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.”) (Please specify the sensor name in PR data, for example.)

Examples of How to Indicate the Sources of Original Data for Higher-Level Value-Added Data and Products:
Japanese Example:
「当該高次付加価値データ（製品）に使用した原初データは、宇宙航空研究開発機構より提供を受けました。」 Translation: “The original data used for the higher-level value-added data (product) were provided by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.”
English Example:
"The original data for this Higher-level value-added data (product) were provided by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency."
(3) Prior Notification before Commercial Use
When using data provided by G-Portal for commercial purposes, Users are required to notify JAXA in advance. Please contact the Support Desk, which is specified in Section 10 of these Terms of Use.
(4) Use Based on Agreements and Joint Research Agreements
Agreements, joint research agreements, and other arrangements concluded with JAXA shall take precedence over these Terms of Use. When using data provided by G-Portal based on such agreements, joint research agreements, or other arrangements, please comply with the conditions of use stipulated therein.
(5) Citation of Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
Since FY2022, JAXA has obtained DOIs for standard data registered in G-Portal (excluding near-real-time data, etc.). If you use this data in papers, academic journals, etc., JAXA would appreciate it if you could cite the DOI for the relevant data in accordance with the information below:

6. Disclaimer
While JAXA exercises reasonable care in the operation of G-Portal, JAXA makes no representations or warranties of any kind regarding the security of G-Portal or the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or usefulness of any data and information made available through G-Portal. JAXA shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of G-Portal or any data and information obtained through G-Portal. JAXA may modify, delete, suspend, discontinue, or terminate G-Portal, or any data or information made available through G-Portal, at any time without prior notice. JAXA shall not be liable for any loss or damage incurred by Users as a result of such actions.
7. Request for Cooperation in Collecting Outputs
The G-Portal Support Desk collects outputs, such as papers and reports, produced using data provided by G-Portal. For outputs produced using data provided by G-Portal, JAXA would appreciate your cooperation in sending reprints or copies thereof by post or as email attachments to the Support Desk mentioned at the end of these Terms of Use.
8. Changes to These Terms of Use
JAXA may change the contents of these terms (excluding Section 2) by providing prior notice through this website if it deems such changes necessary. The amended terms shall take effect when posted on this website. If a User uses the Service on or after the effective date of the amended Terms of Use, the User shall be deemed to have agreed to such amendments.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms of Use or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.

11. Handling of the English Version
The English version of these Terms of Use is provided for reference purposes only and for the convenience of Users. In the event of any ambiguity, discrepancy, inconsistency, or difference in interpretation between the Japanese and English versions, the Japanese version shall be deemed official and shall prevail.
